Tours Of Indian Communities, Crafts And The Lakes Of The Imbabura Province
Departure is at 08h00. We will head towards the community of San Rafael, we will observe the making of esteras, a woven
mattress cover made from totora, a reed that grows in San Pablo. Afterwards we will go to Iluman, considered an important place in the manufacture of articles made from sheep's wool. We will
visit the craftsmen's shops, where you will find tapestries, wool sweaters, and sash belts. From here we will go to Peguche where we will be able to see the Indians working on the looms producing wall hangings. We will continue our tour, traveling to Cotacachi to see a great variety of leather goods. There will be time to visit the stores, then we will travel on to Lake Cuicocha, considered to be the oldest volcano in the area. Boat ride around the lake is optional. From here we will visit San Antonio de Ibarra, to observe the work of the wood carvers, which is characteristic of the village. We will have sufficient time to visit each craftsman's shop.
